Biosorption of Chromium (II) Ion from Textile Effluent Using Watermelon Shell-Activated Carbon
نویسندگان
چکیده
Watermelon Shell, an agricultural waste, was employed for the adsorptive removal of chromium (II) ion Cr 2+ from textile effluent. This study analysed adsorbent's active sites and morphological structures using FT-IR, SEM, XRD, XRF. The independent variables' effect, contact time, adsorbent dosage, pH were predicted Response Surface Methodology (RSM) adsorption onto Shell Activated Carbon (WSAC). experimental results indicated that NaOH activation effectively improved WSAC's capacity. maximum capacity 54.53 %, with dosage 0.6 g/l, 6.0, agitation time 40 min. high correlation coefficient (R 2 =0.978) between model data showed effluent efficiently.

Decolourization of wastewater from a textile plant by a marine Aspergillus niger was studied. The fungus was previously isolated from Gorgan Bay in the Caspian Sea. The kinetics of decolourization was studied by varying energy sources. The best decolourization was achieved when sucrose was used as source of carbon and energy. NH4+ ion was demonstrated to be the best nitrogen source. Color reduc...
متن کاملBiosorption of Chromium from Tannery Effluent Using Biomass of Sargassum
The release of chromium into water bodies is one of the major concerns of tannery industries. The present work deals with the determination of Chromium removal capacity of powdered biomass of Sargassum wightii (Greville) in synthetically prepared as well as real tannery effluent. The maximum adsorption was obtained after 12 hours of exposure at pH-4, in 8g/L biomass concentration of the seaweed...
متن کاملPreconcentration and Determination of Chromium (III) from Sea Water Samples Using Ion Imprinted Activated Carbon
A simple ion imprinted amino-functionalized sorbent was synthesized by coupling activated carbon with iminodiacetic acid, a functional compound for metal chelating, through cyanoric chloride spacer. The resulting sorbent has been characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and evaluated for the preconcentration and de...

متن کاملRemoval of Heavy Metals from Dye Effluent Using Activated Carbon Produced from Coconut Shell
The ability of activated carbon produced from coconut shell to remoe mercury Hg (II), Lead Pb (II) and Copper Cu (II) from dye effluent was investigated. The activated carbon was produced through chemical activation processes by using zinc chloride (ZnCl2). The adsorption capacity was determined as a function of adsorbent dosage. The adsorption Isotherms of the studied metals on adsorbent were ...
